This post is inspired by something that Dick Talens, Cofounder of Fitocracy, wrote. I remember reading it and feeling like I got hit with a ton of bricks, because it was so obvious, yet so difficult to grasp. This article in the Harvard Business Review was very eye opening, and something I’ve bookmarked to consistently look back on.
Gertrude walked in to talk to me one day. It was a relatively normal day at the gym, and Gertrude by all accounts was normal. Gertrude walked into the office and plopped down.
“I’ve been doing x and y for z amount of time, I just haven’t seen any results. Quite frankly, it’s pissing me the hell off.”
Gertrude obviously has a right to be pissed. Not only was she given a name that would make her fit in during Little House on the Prairie, but she can’t lose weight. Gertrude is nearly 200lbs, and only 5’3.
